FAQ

  1. What are the differences between a Policy+ subscription and AmCham China's general membership?
    There are several key differences:
    • Membership—in order to join Policy+, you need to be an AmCham China member first. AmCham China’s general membership services are open to all members, many who value our Government Affairs-related services such as our annual white paper, the annual Government Affairs Conference, working group advocacy efforts and general member events. Unlike general membership, Policy+ subscribers receive exclusive written products, access to invitation-only events, customized briefings and other services delivered in small-scale, intimate formats.
    • Exclusive events—in addition to 200+ events hosted by AmCham China each year, you will be invited to exclusive breakfasts, luncheons, and briefings that are either invite-only or tailor-made for Policy+ subscribers, based on your interests.
    • Government access—As a Policy+ subscriber, you receive priority invites to our meetings with government officials from both the US and China.
    • Analytical products—on top of our advocacy publications (e.g., White Paper and Business Climate Survey Report) that are open to all members, Policy+ subscribers have access to additional tailor-made reports covering policy trends in China and important aspects of the bilateral relationship.
  2.
  3. Can you tell me more about your analytical products?
There are three types of reports currently offered to Policy+ subscribers:
    • Meeting highlights: detailed meeting recaps with additional context are provided shortly after each Policy+ exclusive event
    • Special reports: usually three-to-eight pages long, focusing on topics such as important policy trends in China (e.g., lianghui and free trade zone developments), shifts in US political sentiment towards China, as well as US-China relations
    • Other reports: we routinely partner with political risk consulting firms and policy research institutes to provide customized content to provide even greater value to our subscribers
  4.
  5. How often are Policy+ exclusive events held?
On average, we hold two exclusive events for Policy+ members every month either over breakfast, lunch or via video
  6.
  7. What if I can’t regularly attend Policy+ events and meetings?
We understand you are busy. That’s why all Policy+ members will receive an email with meeting highlights so that even if you miss an event, you will still have the full scoop on what happened
  8.
  9. What kind of speakers speak at Policy+ events?
The speakers for Policy+ exclusive events are typically either policy makers or recognized experts in US-China relations, Chinese economy, bilateral trade, strategic communications, government affairs, and technology. Some recent speakers include: Samm Sacks of New America, Daniel Rosen of the Rhodium Group, Meredith Sumpter of the Eurasia Group, Scott Kennedy of CSIS, and Minxin Pei of Claremont McKenna College. Policy+ subscribers also have the opportunity to meet with officials from Chinese government agencies such as MOFCOM, NDRC, MOFA, CAC, and STA, as well as the US embassy throughout the year.
  10.
  11. How many members typically attend Policy+ events?
Events are small scale, with typically no more than 15 attendees per event, to help facilitate productive conversation. Since its founding in 2017, we have seen a close-knit community develop among our Policy+ members, who typically represent government affairs or senior leadership functions of their companies.
